Concept Car of the Week: Fiat Ecobasic

This week we're celebrating if not the most glamorous then certainly one of the most relevant concept of the last decade, the Fiat Ecobasic. The car was first shown at the 2004 Geneva motor show as Fiat investigated how to replace Giugiaro's ancient but brilliantly utilitarian Panda. The brief was: cheap to produce, cheap to own and friendly to the environment.

Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 first of string of new Peugeot hybrids

Peugeot will launch the new 3008 HYbrid4 crossover in autumn 2011 as the world's first diesel-electric hybrid car - and it's the first in a string of hybrid cars coming from Peugeot and Citroen. The 3008 HYbrid4 will be followed by a brace of 508 hybrids in spring 2011, and engineers have told CAR that any car on the mid-sized PF2 and full-sized PF3 platforms can use the same innovative electric 4wd architecture.  Although pricey at £26,995, Peugeot expects to sell 10,000 of the 3008 HYbrid4 in its first full year and the parent group PSA Peugeot Citroen is targeting 100,000 annual sales of hybrids as soon as 2015. Buick Regal GS at Detroit

GM are showing a 'Concept' of the Buick Regal GS at the Detroit Motor Show It always seemed likely that having taken the very good Vauxhall Insignia and turned it in to a Buick for the 21st century – The Buick Regal – that GM would take the obvious step of producing a performance version based on the Insignia VRX. So it’s not a huge surprise that GM have revealed the Buick Regal GS as a Concept (concept? Believe that and you’ll believe anything) which they are showing at the Detroit Motor Show this month.
